After Hours …

Good Evening Everyone …

Blogging … After Hours

I guess that is how I would greet you all at 11:16pm … normally do not post after work hours LOL as that is the time when I am really just alone with my thoughts and things are still for the most part. I shared with my Blogger Buddy Napthali that I do my best thinking at work and I also do it at night but those are mostly jotted in my journal.

But I just wanted to share that .. I am truly excited. I as well as my husband and our families have encountered a lot in this past week. I have been challenged on all sides and almost contemplated throwing in the towel on a few occasions but as the word says this present suffering does not compare to the glory that is to be revealed.

We have to fight, fight to believe even when the promise is no where in sight.

Anyway, I was sharing with my husband that in a little less than a month we will be celebrating out first year anniversary.  It seems as though we just got married week before last. Seems like 3 weeks ago I was mailing out invitations and trying to shed some more inches off my waste so I could hopefully squeeze into my dream dress.

I remember a promise soon coming into reality … God’s promise to both me and husband was just days away from manifesting in the natural. Nothing was stopping us and nothing was getting in our way.

Then in a matter of minutes (which my Pastors reminded me of at every counseling) it was done.

But was it really done….

…..  or was it only just beginning?

I think a few months into the promise manifesting we realized that this was only the beginning.

I didn’t mean to go that far into it … I only wanted to share with you all that in less than a month we will be celebrating our first year anniversary of marriage and I am going to do a post about what I have learned in our first year.

I am excited about that and I can tell you now that one thing I learned and learned rather quickly is that marriage is hard work. But this work I am passionate about come hell or high water.

Truly… what God has joined together let no one separate (Mark 10:9)

I do have many other things that have transpired of these past few days I am going to post about as well so

Don’t Get Mad … Get Better

When your mate expresses their heart to you … although some words may not be so easy on the ears … listen with an open un-offended heart. Sometimes, the best way to find out who we are and what our strengths and weaknesses are, is to find out from the ones we share our bed and lives with. No, Love is not always sweet roses, fresh and in bloom … sometimes it is about growth and maturity. Before getting bent out of shape, take time to do self inventory .. there may very well be much truth to what they are saying. Don’t get mad … get better.

“Happy Birthday”

Birthday Verse

“What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ”Philippians 3:7

This post is dedicated to my Best Friend, My King, My Lover, My Partner, My Boyfriend, My husband.

I just simply want to let you know that I Love You. And I am honestly finding it hard to do this post because I celebrate you everyday. I thank God for you …. Everyday. I tell you I Love you everyday. You know that my feelings for you are constant … I love you in good times bad times and so-so times.

God made me specially for you and because of this I am honored. I love you with every fiber of my being. It is an honor to be placed beside such a diligent, hardworking and loving man as yourself. I pray that I can be strong enough to support you and help push you in your journey God has planned for you.

For he knows the plans he has for you … plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope in a future. I am glad He saw me in His plan for you.

I pray that this day is as unique as you. You are a gift created by God for me and you are a light in this world. Let your light shine Boo.

I am proud of who you are and who you are becoming and I pray God gives you the desires of your heart and that every thing your hands touch prospers.

God Bless You Man of God,

  Love you always,

Love & Understanding

First Dance

One Week ago my husband and I attended a couples workshop at our church (www.ngimlive.org shout out to Pastors Michael and Danielle Hathaway lol). And we had an awesome time exploring the ins and outs of this thing called “Marriage”.

We played games-one to see how well we knew each other and the second a trust game – and might I add me and my husband blew it out the water. We also had questions written by each of our spouses and it was anonymously placed in the basket and pulled at random throughout the workshop.

It was our turn to pull from the basket and the question was

” What does love and understanding really consist of?”

That question for some odd reason had utterly blew my mind; and not in a bad way. It made me think… I don’t know about my husband but I know I have had so many light bulb moments in regards to our relationship, and how we co-exist together, how we treat each other and how being together allows me to see “Me” and how he sees “Me” too and vice versa.

We see so much more than our “surface”. We see more than that facade we can easily put up for others.  My husband sees that weak, quiet, vulnerable and bruised side that others might not see. He sees me when I take off my cape because I know my arms are not strong enough to win the battle. He see’s my insecurities, he knows my fears.

He has witnessed my fits of rage and my bouts with confusion, he has rescued me from depression.

But in all of this he see’s and loves deeply and often without hesitation  “Me”.

It reminds me of Ephesians 5 22

“Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her 26 to make her holy, cleansing[a] her by the washing with water through the word, 27 and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless.”

So when we pulled the question

“What does love and understanding  really consist of?”

It made me think of Christ’s undying love for us. That in spite of all of our foolishness and vanity and despite all of our “quirks” he loves us. He can look at us and see right through us and see what we have been destined to become. He is able to look at the least of them and see the King and Queen inside.

The love me and my husband share says “No matter what you do, no matter what you say .. I love you” . Our love says I will keep no memory of any wrongs. Our love says I know you aren’t perfect. Our love says I know your weaknesses and what makes you angry.

Our understanding we have with each other says ” I know that you are a ball of imperfection but I know and understand that there is more to you than what many think  they see. I understand that you have a call of greatness on your life. I understand God has entrusted you with me and me with you and I want you to understand your life is safe in my hands. I Understand that no matter what comes nothing will tear us apart. Because when no one else understands “I do”.
